Sorry if you missed the cake and ice cream bar! After a lot of work and sacrifice, we have finally completed the purchase of the building in which we currently meet! It has been a long process and we appreciate all of the giving and patience that made this possible. We’re looking forward to years of service to the community from our worship space!

We also completed the first phase of the fundraising for the HVAC replacement. If you missed the earlier announcement, another church in Delaware offered to match any money given to the HVAC system replacement up to $10,000. We raised the $10K and now have $20K and are working on plans to replace the system and increase its efficiency.

We’ll have a lot of projects in the future that you can support financially or help us with physically. (It’s a great way to get some exercise, get to know some people, and learn some new skills.) Keep a lookout for the announcements here or in the Facebook Group–or contact us to get involved!

We have an exciting announcement planned for Sunday after our worship gathering! So, tune in online if you can’t make it in person.

And if you can make it in person, please plan to stay a few minutes afterward for a piece of cake and celebration!

There are several building issues that need our attention––including work on our HVAC system. As announced on Sunday, another church has graciously offered to match donations to our HVAC fund up to $10,000. So for every dollar you donate, we’ll get $2! Please consider donating so we can have the HVAC fully functional in time for the summer.

We have received inquiries about our next Deep Water gear order. We’re asking for interest to determine if we have enough for a minimum order. Usually, T-shirts are $10 and hoodies are $20. We’ll have some other items and may have the option of beanie hats or ball caps if there is enough interest. With our normal volunteers unavailable today, I am reminded of some of the ways we serve the greater Dover area. A volunteer and I:

• Heated and delivered food for the homeless population of downtown Dover
• Delivered food to hungry people
• Delivered donated clothes to someone in need
• Picked up donated food
• Helped with benevolent needs for a couple living in a van

While it may seem like a funny time to offer membership classes, we wanted to make use of some time many of us have at home to normally offer these classes. These classes will help you can learn, grow and get involved. They are designed to teach more about our history and values–in other words, why we do what we do–while helping you grow in your faith!

• Church 101: This class is a basic introduction to Deep Water and will help you understand church membership.
• Essentials 201: This class develops the essential habits that every believer needs to become a fully-devoted follower of Jesus Christ.
• Discovery 301: This class helps you discover your personality, gifts, and purpose in life, and see how God combines them for the best fit in ministry.
• Dream Team 401: This class helps you connect your gifts to a place to help make the vision a reality.

We’ll set the virtual time soon. We’ll do our best to find a time that works for everyone–and possibly offer a recorded version. Please contact us if you are interested!

With the current health crisis, we will continue to do church online and cancel all classes, groups, and activities until further notice…which means no potluck this month…

As a church, we will continue to serve the vulnerable population and feed the hungry and homeless while keeping groups small in order to practice “social distancing”. If you have some extra time, consider helping us with this! And remember to love and serve those around you––while practicing social distancing.

With the current recommendations, we plan to move church online and cancel all classes, groups and activities until further notice. Please join us for church online, Sundays at 10:00 am on Deep Water’s Facebook page. We are working to provide Facebook alternatives and will announce them when ready.

Deep Water shirts, hoodies, etc. are available for order now. The last week to order them is this Sunday (November 24) after the worship gathering with cash or check.

The tumblers cost $10 and are available after the Sunday worship gathering.

While the official Deep Water Church t-shirt is not required to help with festivals or other events, it is a cool way to show you’re connected with our faith community as you volunteer at events, on Sundays, etc. And if you are friendly and like meeting people, it is a cool thing to wear while out in public. Wear it to the gym or around town to let people know who we are…if you’re cranky, dislike people and/or tip poorly, we strongly recommend NOT wearing this t-shirt though!
