firefly project
We’ve been asked to do balloon animals at the National Night Out event with the police. Join us this Tuesday (August 7) from 6 – 8pm at the stand. There will be 4 police departments and 7 other state agencies participating. It’s a great night to support law enforcement as they build relationships in the community; and it’s a fun night for kids and adults!
Contact us or let us know Sunday of you can help.
WHAT IS NATIONAL NIGHT OUT?
National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live. National Night Out enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community. Furthermore, it provides a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances.
Millions of neighbors take part in National Night Out across thousands of communities from all fifty states, U.S. territories and military bases worldwide on the first Tuesday in August (Texas celebrates on the first Tuesday in October). Neighborhoods host block parties, festivals, parades, cookouts and various other community events with safety demonstrations, seminars, youth events, visits from emergency personnel, exhibits and much, much more. 2018 Peach Festival in Wyoming & Customer Appreciation Day at Fifers
WYOMING PEACH FESTIVAL
We will be making balloon animals and hosting fun games at the Wyoming Peach Festival on Saturday, August 4 from 9:00 am – 3:00 pm. We’ll be right outside our building so it will be a great chance to meet people and invite them to join us on Sundays. It’s also a great opportunity to enjoy entertainment on the train platform throughout the day and check out vendors, crafters and other community displays.
FIFER’S CUSTOMER APPRECIATION DAY
The following Saturday (August 11 from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm), we’ll be tying balloon animals and running games again for Fifer’s Customer Appreciation Day. We’ll need help again–and it’s a great opportunity to sample their ice cream with a free peach ice cream cone!
Not sure how to make balloon animals? Don’t worry, we’ll teach you some easy balloon art–and we need some help running Kids Games like Giant Connect Four, Giant Jenga and Spike Ball.
We’re asking people to commit to 2 hour blocks during the day. Signup for either Saturday on Sunday!

Beach Baptism this Sunday Evening (July 8)
Jesus said, “Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age (Matthew 28:19-20, NLT).”
Since we try to do the things Jesus told us to do, we baptize believers/followers of Jesus. Baptism is a step of obedience where we identify with Christ in His death, burial and resurrection. If you’re interested in getting baptized, contact us or sign up on Sunday. It turns into a party as we celebrate the new life Jesus offers us in Him; so even if you’re not being baptized, please try to join us! We’ll arrive at the beach about 6:00pm and begin the service about 6:15/30 after we gather those signed up for baptism. We’ll say a few words and then baptize people.
Still wondering what baptism is all about? Jeff preached a sermon on it recently. To hear it, you can find it on our website, in iTunes and on YouTube.
