School Supplies for Wilmington
Pastor Derrick came and shared with us a few times this summer. (Check out most recent message here.) Wilmington has become one of the most violent small cities in the US; and we want to support what Pastor Derrick and Epiphany Church are doing in Wilmington as they share Jesus and change lives.
They are planning an outreach event with school supplies. If you’re interested in contributing, as we mentioned on Sunday, this week is the only week we can collect in order to meet his deadline. Here’s what they need:
- 16-count Crayola Crayons
- 12-count Colored Pencils
- 15 people signed up
- #2 Writing Pencils 12-pack
- Glue Sticks
- Fiskars blunt tip scissors
- Black & White Composition Books
- 2-Pocket Folders
- Black or Blue Ball Point Pens
- Single-Subject Spiral-Bound Notebooks
- 3×5-inch memo-style notebooks
- Highlighters
- 2-inch 3-Ring Binder
- 100 Sheet Pack 3-Hole Lined Notebook Filler
- Pack of 5-tab subject dividers
All donations must be received by Sunday. Questions? Ask Rob on Sunday or message him.
Back to School Rally…and Balloons!
Join Dover Police Department, NCALL Research and Communities in Schools to celebrate going back to school. FREE Backpacks & school supplies until they run out!
When: Monday, August 21 from 5-7pm
Where: Dover Police Department, Dover
We’ve been asked to do balloon animals, so we’d love more help with making animals! (No experience necessary!) Why balloon animals? One of the things we value is serving our community at local events in Dover. It’s a great way to serve our community and meet some new people. There will be plenty of people; but it won’t be nearly as crazy busy as Dover Days!
If you’re interested in being involved, contact us!
Jeff will be holding Clown College–balloon twisting school–this Sunday after the worship gathering.
Deep Water Church Facebook Group
Reminder: While you may already “like” us on Facebook (and if not, please do here!), some things are better posted and responded to in a group rather than a fan page. For those things, we have a Facebook group meant to be a place for people connected to Deep Water Church to share prayer requests, swap baby/kids clothes, ask about good apartments, places to buy used cars, suggestions for contractors, recommendations for doctors, etc.–all those things people do when they are in community.
While we prefer to do everything openly and without secrets, we have chosen to make the Facebook Group private so people feel comfortable sharing prayer requests, etc. If you want to be a part of the community, please ask to join!
So, click here, connect and make new friends!
School Supplies for Teens 2017
We delivered the first wave of school supplies to Central Middle School this week; but if you still want to bring in school supplies, we’ll get them there! If you wanted to donate but didn’t get around to it, we’d like to make that process simpler! Make an online donation to school supplies through our regular online place of giving (click here) and designate it to school supplies. We’ll get the funds to the teachers to get what they need for the students.
Missed the announcements about school supplies? Here’s what we’re doing:
Many kids return to school without the supplies they need. As a church, we want to help meet the needs of those students who don’t have the supplies they need to get a good start for the academic year.
Many people focus on the supplies needed for younger kids while middle school kids don’t get enough supplies donated. This year, we’re gathering supplies to send to Central Middle School (where our volunteers painted classrooms).
Needed Supplies:
- Pencils
- Eraser Caps and/or Erasers
- Pens (Blue or Black Ink)
- Loose Leaf Notebook Paper (Preferably college ruled – but wide ruled is just as awesome! ☺)
- Composition Books
- 3 ring binders
- Dividers
- Folders
- Markers
If you want to contribute, simply drop supplies off in the foyer at our worship gathering on Sunday, or contact us to let us know when you want to drop off supplies during the week. (You can also pick up a copy of the above list there.)
For more information contact us or see Justin Puchalsky on Sunday!
Database Change
Jeff always jokes that “If you don’t like organized religion, try us–we’re not that organized.” But truthfully, we do a lot behind the scenes to organize, to be effective in the community and to facilitate smooth administration. While many of you may never see the database, some of you do log in to give electronically, to view giving statements or to do other tasks. We have recently transitioned between two different databases.
If you normally access the database from our “login” link on our website, that page has been replaced – along with your password; so, you will have to request a new one. If you are on the worship team and access Planning Center regularly, it will be the same password.
Remember: If you normally access your giving statement thru the database, some of your giving history may be missing when you first check. We are in the process of converting everything over to the new system.
Note: this will NOT affect gifts made thru PayPal.
Sorry for any frustrations that may arise. You can be confident that we are working hard to switch things over and hoping that the new database will help us be more efficient at serving you and the community!
