Firefly Project 2017 and Code Purple

As many of you know, we work to help the homeless in this area and love partnering with other organizations that serve the homeless population. Two years ago, we began to work with the people who put on Firefly. Many of the items left behind after the festival can be useful to the homeless.

To make this work, we need volunteers to help us collect and process materials donated and left behind after Firefly on Monday, June 19 @10am. All the things collected go to Code Purple.

To sign up, go here or see the information table on Sunday.

Also, if your business might be interested in donating services or sending volunteers, let us know! We have local businesses donating trucks, laundering donated goods, etc….and you’ll get your logo on the t-shirt! ????

Ladies Nacho Night

Ladies Nacho Night? Can men come? No, it’s ‘nacho’ night! ????

As we head into summer, please make time to join us on Saturday, June 17, from 5:30 to 7:00 pm for a fun evening together. We’ll enjoy a Nacho Bar (Yep…nachos with loads of toppings!), a few ice breakers, and the opportunity to connect with other ladies of Deep Water. Although you are welcome to bring drinks or a dessert if you’d like, you don’t need to bring a thing…except yourself! Please sign-up on Sunday or contact Deborah or Jettie (see below).

This is a great opportunity to get to know other ladies in pursuit of Jesus, gather together, and hear about the next chapter for the ladies of Deep Water. Childcare will be available for those who need it. To stay up-to-date on the latest news for ladies, join our “Deep Water Ladies” group on Facebook. For more information, feel free to reach out to Deborah Climie at (302) 359-8309 or Jettie Tolbert at (808) 232-1639.

Last Youth Group until the Fall

This Sunday will be the last regularly scheduled youth group. Before we break for summer there will be a Party at the Park at our regularly scheduled time. (In case of bad weather, we’ll meet at the church building.)

If you want to keep up with youth events this summer, please connect with the Facebook Group.

Summer Service Time

To avoid the awkwardness of showing up an hour early, or just as we’re ending, please remember we’re currently meeting at the Summer Service time of 10am.

Even though it will get a little tight some weeks, it will be fun to see everyone together again for a few months…and we can add chairs in a few places.

Also with the new summer time, we are in need of some people to commit to being ushers to help people find seats and a few people to teach kids church in a rotation (once a month) or as substitutes. Please let me know if you can help. (I also need a few people to help plan our Brecknock Park Days!)

Why are we going to one service at 10am? We surveyed a sample of people from both the 9:00 and 11:00 services. The consensus was that we should combine the 9 am and 11 am services for the summer into a 10 am service since so many people travel. While the 9am-ers have to go a bit later than they would like and the 11am-ers have to get up a little earlier, it’s the best compromise for the two groups. Thanks for being willing to sacrifice a little for each other! That is love…that is community…we’re all in this together!
