Thursday Night Class: The Beauty of the Word (Psalms)
This week we begin week 2 of an inductive study of the book of Psalms, which gives attention to the various forms of the psalms — including their function within ancient Israel. The course focuses on the formulation (lament, royal, pilgrimage, wisdom, messianic, praise, etc.) and interpretation of the psalms. (It’s based on the content from the course Jeff teaches in Ethiopia.)
Since some asked for a “make-up” class after missing the first week, we will have a makeup session at 6:00pm. The regular class will begin at 6:45pm on Thursday, May 4.
Worship Team Meeting on Sunday, May 7
This Sunday (May 7), there is a meeting for all current members of the worship team–vocalists, guitars, bass, drums, theremin, etc. 😉
We will meet after the 11am service at a location near the church building. Please see Louis or Chas for more information–or if you’re interested in joining the worship team.
Tag our Location on Instagram or Checkin on Facebook
This May, in celebration of mothers all over the world, check-ins on Facebook and location tags on Instagram (Follow us on Instagram!) at our location will provide food for a mother and her new baby! Thanks to our partnership with Reach and Compassion International, every 5 check-ins at Deep Water will provide a day of food for a mother and her new baby.
Who is Compassion International? Compassion International is the world’s leading authority in holistic child development through sponsorship. Through their ‘Child Survival Program’, Compassion was able to help over 64,000 mothers and babies so far. The program is run in places like Haiti, El Salvador, Kenya, and Indonesia – where mothers and babies need the most help. To learn more about Compassion, check out their website.
Like hashtags? You can add #care4moms to check-ins to help spread awareness! Thanks for helping to change the lives of hundreds of mothers and their new babies.
Clown College & Dover Days 2017 (May 6)
Part of what makes us who we are as a church is the desire to be connected and part of the community outside of the space we meet weekly. As a church we encourage people to be actively involved in the community and take part in the many festivals in and around Dover.
Dover Days will be celebrated May 6, 2017. The event is the largest in Kent County and draws more than 50,000 people a year. A blend of traditions and modern attractions celebrate First State history.
Men’s Group Schedule Change

One of the Men’s groups normally meets on the fourth Saturday at 8am and is currently working thru the book of James, but this month we have to meet on the fifth Saturday!
So, check us out NEXT week, April 29 at 8am! Or come this Saturday and stand at the locked door looking awkward–whichever is best for you; but we’d really prefer to see you next week! 😮
