Pastor Appreciation Thanks

Thanks for the cards, notes and gifts the last few weeks for Pastor Appreciation. While it feels awkward for me to “be appreciated”, your kind words are appreciated more than you know. I love the opportunity to be a part of what God is doing in and through each of you at Deep Water; and, of course, I enjoyed spending time with all of you who could make the potluck after the 11am service!

Thanks again!

Jeff

November 2016

deep-water-church-checkin-november-2016

Mother Teresa once said, “If you can’t feed a hundred, then just feed one.” Those words were taken to heart and feedONE was created as a Convoy of Hope initiative. Solutions to the problem of world hunger start with a warm bowl of nutritious food, which is the doorway to provide a child with an education, a healthier living environment, and most importantly — hope.

This November, you can provide meals for children in need by checking in on Facebook at Deep Water Church. Every 2 check-ins = 1 meal for a child in need. We’ve partnered with Reach and feedONE to make this opportunity possible. So, check in and do good!

Spooktacular Events: Downtown Costume Parade & Dover Police Department Safe Halloween Event

One of the things that make us who we are as a church is our desire to serve the City of Dover as they serve the people. We partner with the City of Dover and community organizations to do events for kids–especially downtown Dover events. This year, the event is scheduled for Friday, October 28 and includes a partnership with the Dover Police.

Since two organizations are sponsoring the event, here are two separate Facebook “events” for the event (with two different times listed because the Dover PD one does not include the checkin for the Costume Contest and the Parade from the Loockerman Way Plaza–aka the green space on Loockerman near where we meet for church), so please check out both for updates: Downtown Dover Facebook Event (5-7:30pm)– Dover Police Department Event (6-7:30pm). Please come out and support Downtown Dover and the Dover Police.

The event will start with a costume parade from Loockerman Square (the green space on Loockerman near the church’s building) down to Legislative Mall. (Legislative Mall is the big green space where most people gather for the Fireworks.) There will be lots of activities for the kids on the Mall and then a movie back on Loockerman Square Plaza.

I’ll be making balloon animals while other volunteers will run games for kids and hand out information about Deep Water. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact me ASAP! Or join the discussion in the Facebook group here. And again, please come out and support downtown Dover events!

Pastor Appreciation Potluck 2017 #AwkwardAnnouncement

If you’ve been at Deep Water the last few weeks, Pastor Appreciation month and our Potluck dinner to celebrate have been announced. It is a little awkward for me (Jeff), but I have to mention it since I write the announcements most weeks and I want to make sure everyone knows about the potluck. It will be held this Sunday, October 30 after the 11 am service. I am hoping there will be bacon.

For details, contact Julie Memmolo on Facebook, contact us or sign up on Sunday or look for the post in the Facebook Group.

Operation Christmas Child 2016

As we mentioned before, we are doing Operation Christmas Child again. Here’s a great idea that someone posted in our Facebook Group for Deep Water Church:

To read the original story, go here.

And remember, if you don’t want to do a whole box (or have extra), you can bring in toys and drop them in the basket in the lobby.
