Help Stop Human Trafficking in Delaware
Many of us at Deep Water care about the issue of human trafficking. There is an event this weekend (October 1) that some may be interested in attending.

Sex Trafficking occurs in every state of our nation and Delaware is no exception. Trafficking will be defined and identified through a compelling PowerPoint presentation so attendees may view what this crime “looks like” in the first state. Red flags and indicators will be reviewed. Actual cases in Delaware will be highlighted as well as how attendees can take steps toward prevention and reporting. Join us for this free event!
Checkin begins at 8:30 AM and the event will begin promptly at 9:00.

Songs We Sing – New Sermon Series
The songs we sing are our response to God and His love as revealed in the Bible. The words can powerfully move us when we understand His love for us; or the words can be empty when we don’t understand the words we sing. Join us as we explore the Songs We Sing and our reasons to worship.

Missions: the Marine Corps, 9-11 and Muslims
The Marine Corps, 9-11 and Muslims: I hope you guys enjoyed meeting the Missionaries last week and hearing their story. They have a really unique story and calling to proclaim Jesus around the world. Unfortunately, we are NOT able to record and podcast what they said because of where they are going; but I can share more if you missed it and want to know more. And if you’re interested in keeping up with them and forgot to get their contact info, message me and I’ll help you connect.
As a church, we will be supporting them (as we do others) as they go across the world to proclaim Jesus. So, thank you for your generous support of Deep Water which allows us to support them!

Teen Ministry Moving to 4pm
After feedback from parents, the youth group for teens is moving to 4pm on Sunday nights, starting this week (September 18). This will allow everyone o get home earlier to start the school week.
If you have a teenager in 6th-12th grade, send them to check out the youth groups as they study and learn to become more like Jesus (#Jesusy) while having fun too.
Keep an eye out for information on Fine Arts competition soon. Although the competition isn’t until winter, preparing in the Fall will hep your student(s) be better prepared!

Lead or Join a Community Group
We have community groups so we can learn to live out our faith. We encourage people to connect in community and live out the three words to describe our goals for people who attend Deep Water: Gather, Grow and Engage. While many of these may be informal, we do have several that meet informally. (Of course, our “formal” ones are still very causal–just advertised better!) The groups we form focus on one of these words as well–of course, if you’re in a group that gathers for community, you’re likely to grow and possibly engage the community too.
If you’re interested in leading a group, talk to me on a Sunday, contact me or comment below. I’ll help guide you through the process of getting started.
While it may seem a big task, it’s really as simple as finding a convenient time to meet and using some questions to steer the conversation in a direction that helps people grow spiritually. If you want to form a Community Group but want a little more training, you can “intern” at mine to see how to do it. If you want to form a Discipleship Group, join us to see how to do it–it’s probably easier than you think. I will make myself available to help you start for the first couple of meetings, help you get the right tools to make discussions easy and support you as you lead.
