10 Reasons to Invite Someone to Deep Water for Easter
In case you missed it, Easter is this Sunday (March 27). Easter is a big deal for those of us who follow Jesus. Spoiler Alert: it’s the day we celebrate that He overcame death and offers us new life now–and eternal life. And since most people in our culture celebrate Easter even if they don’t truly understand its meaning, it’s a great day to invite people to check out Deep Water Church.
1. 82% of people invited to an Easter Service will say likely attend
2. Four words: Free Coffee and Snacks!
3. When they come with you, it looks like you have groupies.
4. You will be inviting them to a place they can belong–and we all need that!
5. 35% of people would be likely to attend a church if they knew people there “are like me.” If you’re their friend, they are probably like you in some ways–or at least they may like you! 😉
6. 7 out of 10 unchurched people (people who have never really been part of a church) have never been invited to church. If you don’t invite them, who will?
7. After eating all that chocolate, you really need to get out of the house anyway–might as well bring a friend.
8. 2% of people who attend church will do so because of a church advertisement compared to 86% who attend because they were invited by someone they know.
9. Many people are looking for a church that is involved in the community–we do that! #homeless
10. Inviting them to Easter could be the most important, life-changing invitation they ever receive.
Not sure how to invite someone? Share the above graphic as your status or profile picture (here on Facebook), tag someone in the comments on Deep Water’s post, send them a private message and say you’ll meet them (or pick them up), call, text, tweet, Instagram–or just ask them in person!

FireFly 2016, Code Purple & Deep Water Church
Some of you know we collected camping supplies for the homeless last year after Firefly. John Rundle had the idea; and we got permission and just showed up and did what we could.
The scope of what we could have done was unbelievable, so we connected with Red Frog, the company that runs Firefly. We pitched the idea to partner with them to collect leftover camping supplies for the homeless of Kent County during the festival. They were excited about the idea. We partner with Code Purple regularly to serve those in need around Dover and the rest of Kent County, so all the items will go to them. To read more about it, check out FireFly’s website.
As we approach the spring, we are looking for volunteers to help with the project. To sign up, go here. There is a private Facebook event for this event. Please message me (Jeff) or John Rundle to get invited–and then invite your friends! We’ll keep you in the loop to help!
Also, if your business might be interested in donating services or sending volunteers, let us know! We have local businesses donating trucks, laundering donated goods (need more help here!), etc.
In it to End it – Get Involved
Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
–Jesus in Matthew 28:18-20
Jesus commissioned his followers to go and make disciples around the world. We get to be part of what God is doing–around Dover and around the world!
Even if you missed our Night of Prayer (In it to End it), you can connect with us as we work with Sower of Seeds to impact the world for Jesus. Check out the information table on Sunday or connect with Christina.
Easter Egg Hunt
The City of Dover’s Egg Hunt will be held at Schutte Park this Saturday (March 19) on the softball fields located at 10 Electric Ave, Dover (Off Hazlettville Rd/North Street near Kraft Foods).
PLEASE NOTE: This is NOT Easter Weekend. The City of Dover does their egg hunt two Saturdays before Easter Sunday! If you show up the Saturday before Easter, the crowds will be much smaller and your chances of finding eggs will be greatly reduced!
The hunt is open to all children 10 and under (age groups include: 3 & under, 4 & 5, 6 to 8, and 9 & 10). All age group hunts will begin promptly at 12:00 noon. And since it only takes a few minutes for all the eggs to disappear, so it’s best to get there early!
Bring your baskets! This event is free (sponsored by the city of Dover), no registration required and will go on whether it’s rain or shine!
Rain or Shine! After all, what else can they do with all of those plastic eggs?
