Why are so many Christians biblically illiterate?
One of the key actions we want to see people do is to GROW. Recently, an article online said:
“Most Christians know enough about the Bible to be dangerous.
The Bible in America is a massive industry ($2.5 billion) yet it is the best seller few read and fewer understand.
The Bible has become a moving target. One can strip it down, twist it, misread it, add to it, supplement it, and even overrule it, and, unfortunately, 95 percent of the congregation will not realize it.Why? Because …READ MORE…”
If you’ve been around Deep Water for a while, you have likely noticed that we teach thru books of the Bible. This is because we want to see people learn what’s in it–and see their lives changed by the incredible message of redemption made possible thru Jesus!
When I Tried to Kill Myself, I Expected Hugs—Instead, My Church Called a Meeting to Tell Me THIS

This article really struck me (Jeff) this week. To read it, go here.
Instead of being a place of healing, churches can often become a place of pain. We’re called to be the people of God–to be like Jesus. So remember, when you find someone in pain–meet them there, show them love a compassion!
And if you’re out there reading this–we want to be the place where you find grace and healing. Even though people will fail you, God will never fail you. So, remember, as the author said; “I left hating the church and blaming Jesus but I realize now that He cried harder that day than I did.”

Seven

In the Gospel of John, Jesus performs seven miracles that John calls “signs.” These signs form the backbone of the first half of the book of John; and each sign reveals something about the person of Jesus. Come check us out this season leading up to Easter as we explore the Gospel of John and discover Seven: Signs of Something More.
Kids Church at 9 and 11 am
Remember, we now have Kids Church at both the 9 and 11 am services!
When we first started the 9am service, we did not have Kids Church. This made it difficult for some people to attend at 9am, but we wanted to wait until we were able to offer the consistent quality our kids deserve.
We’re also welcoming a new teaching staff: Mariah started serving as our 11am teacher in December; and Mary began as our 9am teacher on January 31.
Mariah and her husband Lance come to us from Idaho. Mariah spent years with her family as a missionary living on an island in the Pacific. Mary has been part of our Kids Church Team for a while and has volunteered to lead for the 9am service. She and her husband Ron came here thru the AirForce and now call Delaware home. Both Mariah and Mary are really cool people who love Jesus and kids–be sure to meet them! Ask me (Jeff) and I’ll introduce you on Sunday!
