Missions: Engage the World

Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

–Jesus in Matthew 28:18-20

Jesus commissioned his followers to go and make disciples around the world. We get to be part of what God is doing–around Dover and around the world!

Christina Gallant is organizing a group for people interested in Missions–whether that means helping support/organize or going on a trip. If you’re interested, message Christina on Facebook, talk to her on Sunday or contact us and we’ll connect you with her!

Deep Water 201

essentials_201_growth_track_buttonQ: I missed Church 101, should I take Essential 201?

A: If you missed Church 101, you can still take Essentials 201 this week (and 301 and 401).

In Essentials 201, we will learn the best practices for how to grow in your faith

The classes take roughly an hour; so join us this week (January 17).  These classes are designed to teach more about our history and values–in other words, why we do what we do–while helping you grow in your faith!

If you can’t make all four, you can catch up the next time!

What are 101, 201, 301 and 401? Click here for more info.

We’re offering these classes on Sundays after the 11am worship gathering. The classes are scheduled to begin this Sunday (January 10) and should take roughly an hour each week. These classes are designed to teach more about our history and values – in other words, why we do what we do – while helping you grow in your faith!

  • Church 101: This class is a basic introduction to Deep Water and will help you understand church membership.
  • Essentials 201: This class develops the essential habits that every believer needs to become a fully-devoted follower of Jesus Christ.
  • Discovery 301: This class will help you discover your personality, gifts, and purpose in life, and see how God combines them for the best fit in ministry.
  • Dream Team 401: This class will help you connect your gifts to a place to help make the vision a reality.

If you can’t make all four, you can catch up the next time. Please let us know if you’re coming so we can plan. To RSVP, contact us or comment below!

Kids Church Changes

Reminder: We’re adding Kids Church to the 9 am service. When we first started the 9am service, we did not have Kids Church. This made it difficult for some people to attend at 9am, but we wanted to wait until we were able to offer the consistent quality our kids deserve.

We’re also welcoming a new teaching staff: Mariah started serving as our 11am teacher in December; and Mary will begin as our 9am teacher starting January 24. Both are really cool people who love Jesus and kids!

Note for clarity: Kids Church is currently offered at 11 am every week. Starting January 24, we’ll offer it at 9 am too.

Check in & Do Good

Reach-Promo-Jan2016-FB_PostThis month we’ll be supporting a charity called Soles4Souls every time we check in on Facebook at Deep Water. Every 10 check ins provides a piece of clothing to someone in need. Soles4Souls provides shoes, shirts, winter coats, and more.

What is Souls4Souls?

Soles4Souls was initially created to help those affected by the Indian Ocean tsunami in 2004 and Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Since then, Soles4Souls has provided shoes and clothing to millions of people in 127 countries. In every community, there are men, women, and children who may not have anything warm to wear this winter. But by checking in on Facebook we can help. For even more information, visit soles4souls.org.

P.S. If this is the first time you’ve heard of our Facebook check-in program, here’s how it works… we make a donation to a Kingdom-building cause every time someone in our community check-ins on Facebook. It’s a great way to tell your friends about Deep Water and do some good in the process. (If you need some help checking in on Facebook, just ask the closest teenager or 20-something and they’ll show you how.)
