Men’s Group: Live Second this Saturday
The Men’s group meets this Saturday (November 14) at 8am.
We live in a world where men often strive to be #1–in sports, the workplace, in our hobbies and in everything we do. But there are times where being second is the best choice you can make. Meet us this Saturday at Deep Water’s worship space. We’ll make coffee then watch a short video and talk about faith and how it affects the way we live our lives. If you want breakfast, feel free to grab something before your come–it’s BYOB…Bring Your Own Breakfast!

Socks & Underwear
While it rarely seems like a good Christmas present when young, it can make a big difference to those living on the streets. So, this Christmas, Deep Water Church is sponsoring a socks and underwear drive. We’re looking for warm socks and new packages of underwear (boxers, briefs or boxer-briefs) and long underwear in a variety of men’s sizes. Starting this Sunday, feel free to bring them in every week and we’ll begin distributing them immediately. If you’d prefer to just make a donation, you can do that here. and choose “Socks & Underwear” in the first block.
Helping the Homeless
As most of you know, we provide food, hygiene products and clothing (primarily for men) for the homeless year round. Each week, we have several homeless guys who come in to sort and organize donations. If you’d like to get involved and help people move forward, here are some ways to help:
Donate Clothes: We have a lot of clothing right now; but we always need used jeans, warm socks, sneakers and work-boots (size 9 1/2 thru 11). As you do your closet cleaning, think of us and we’ll pass things along. Specifically, we have a gentleman who works very hard when he can find work and needs work-boots in 9 or 9 1/2.
Hygiene Products: We maintain a supply of toothpaste, deodorant, soap, etc. that helps those living on the streets to maintain a level of hygiene that helps them find employment, etc. We are always in need of razors and deodorant.
Pickup or Heat Sandwiches: We have volunteers pick up food during the day Monday thru Friday from WaWa and bring it to the church building. On Sundays, we heat sandwiches after church and pass them out at a place downtown. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, we currently heat sandwiches in the morning and deliver them to The Interfaith Day Resource Center (where homeless people can shower, do laundry, get help getting an ID, get help finding jobs, etc.). Our biggest need is for help with pickups during the day on Mondays and Wednesdays. (It takes less than an hour.)
Salvation Army Lunch: Volunteers provide a meal and serve lunch at the Salvation Army downtown. We’re expanding from every other month to once a month and will need more volunteers to prepare and bring food.
To get involved or fund on, contact us, comment below or talk to me (Jeff) on Sunday.
