Thanks for checking in! People’s lives were changed!

7-July_Reach_Promo2_12x8As we announced previously, every time you check in on Facebook, you’ll help someone in need. The cause will change monthly. Last month we provided clean water to those in need. Your check-ins helped provide a family with water for over a year!

Remember to check in this month as we provide bricks for schools!

And remember, we’ll track the check-ins all week, not just on Sundays–so anytime you all are together (or at groups during the week) anyone can check-in and they still contribute to the causes.

If you don’t have a phone with the Facebook app on it, you can use a laptop or other mobile device to go to http://www.m.facebook.com to check in.

Would your Kids Help the Homeless or Eat Ice Cream?

A group staged a social experiment where kids 4-6 years old had the opportunity to eat ice cream or give it to a homeless man sitting nearby. The parents get to watch their kids chose between compassion and dessert. Have fun seeing how they will react!

After they set up hidden cameras, they gave each kid a dollar and observed how they went about spending it. The kids’ parents watch on to see how they’ll react. You’ll have to watch the full video to see the outcome, but it’s full of surprises!

Christian Entrepreneurs

Living out your faith in the workplace can be easy or challenging depending on where you work. Romans 12:1 says that we should make our lives living sacrifices, meaning every aspect of our life should be affected by our faith–including our work. What does it mean to be Christian entrepreneur? To run a business as a Christian?

I (Jeff) came across this article in Inc and thought you might be interested.

How This Entrepreneur Works Christianity Into His Craft

Colorado’s Walker Manufacturing builds lawn mowers and operates as a Christian enterprise. What does faith have to do with riding mowers? Depends on how you cut it.  READ MORE

Hope for Dover

As many of you know, we provide food, hygiene products and clothing (primarily for men) for the homeless year round. If you’d like to get involved, here are some ways:

Pickup or Heat Sandwiches: We have volunteers pick up food during the day Monday thru Friday from WaWa and bring it to the church building. On Sundays, we heat sandwiches after church and pass them out at a place downtown. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, we currently heat sandwiches in the morning and deliver them to The Interfaith Day Resource Center (where homeless people can shower, do laundry, get help getting an ID, get help finding jobs, etc.). We need a volunteer for Monday’s pickup and a volunteer to substitute when someone can’t do their normal pickup. We also need help heating sandwiches.

Hygiene Products: We maintain a supply of toothpaste, deodorant, soap, etc. that helps those living on the streets to maintain a level of hygiene that helps them find employment, etc. We currently have a need for deodorant.

Donate Clothes: We need used men’s clothing, jeans, t-shirts, baseball hats, socks and sneakers (most popular are size 10 thru 11/12). As you clean out, think of us and we’ll pass things along.

To get involved or fund on, contact us, comment below or talk to me (Jeff) on Sunday.
