Post-Firefly
We have the opportunity to acquire things for the homeless on the Monday after Firefly. We should be meeting around 7:30am to head up to Dover Downs and get sleeping bags, tents, etc. We will need people to:
1. Go with us at 7:30 am on Monday, June 22.
2. Wash sleeping bags, etc. at your home.
3. Provide some storage space for gear collected.

Men: Live Second
The Men’s group meets this Saturday (June 13) at 8am.
We live in a world where men often strive to be #1–in sports, the workplace, in our hobbies and in everything we do. But there are times where being second is the best choice you can make. Meet us this Saturday at Deep Water’s worship space. We’ll make coffee then watch a short video and talk about faith and how it affects the way we live our lives. If you want breakfast, feel free to grab something before your come–it’s BYOB…Bring Your Own Breakfast!

Building Blitz next week for Habitat for Humanity
Habitat for Humanity is going to build two Habitat homes in one week! Building will go from 6am-9pm from June 8-12. There will be three volunteer shifts to choose from each day.

Help the Hungry and Homeless
As many of you know, we provide food, hygiene products and clothing (primarily for men) for the homeless year round. If you’d like to get involved, here are some ways:
Donate Clothes: We need used men’s clothing, jeans, t-shirts, baseball hats, socks and sneakers (most popular are size 10 thru 11/12). As you do your spring cleaning, think of us and we’ll pass things along.
Hygiene Products: We maintain a supply of toothpaste, deodorant, soap, etc. that helps those living on the streets to maintain a level of hygiene that helps them find employment, etc. We currently have a need for deodorant.
Pickup or Heat Sandwiches: We have volunteers pick up food during the day Monday thru Friday from WaWa and bring it to the church building. On Sundays, we heat sandwiches after church and pass them out at a place downtown. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, we currently heat sandwiches in the morning and deliver them to The Interfaith Day Resource Center (where homeless people can shower, do laundry, get help getting an ID, get help finding jobs, etc.).

Unity and Diversity Day
The hashtag #AllLivesMatter has been controversial in recent months due to the nuances of understanding what it means and the conversation around subtle and overt racism that often exists in our nation. Local churches are coming together this Saturday to show unity. As the Apostle Paul writes in Galatians 3:23, “There is no longer Jew or Gentile, slave or free, male and female. For you are all one in Christ Jesus.” Everything that divides us in our society (race, class, social position, etc.) disappears when we know Christ and the life He brings!
In order to show the unity among churches and people in Dover, local churches are coming together this Saturday (June 6) for 12-5pm to celebrate on Legislative Mall (that giant green space downtown near Legislative Hall where people watch the fireworks, etc.). There will be a ceremony at 1:30pm to recognize the unity we have in Christ even though we may be different race, ages or worship Jesus with a different style of music or “doing church”.
I (Jeff) have been asked to pray at a point during the ceremony, so you may even see me in a tie without anyone getting married or dying–although you’re welcome to come dressed casually!
