Take the Plunge!

Baptism Facebook Post-05Baptism is a symbol of a commitment to follow Jesus. Several people have expressed interest in getting baptized, so we’re planning one on May 17.

If you’re interested in being baptized, see me, contact me, sign up on Sunday with the connection card or comment below so we can be sure you get the most up to date information and let you know about any last minute changes.

By the way, we did a sermon called “Taking a bath can save my soul?!?!” in order to clear up some misunderstandings about baptism. So if you’re not sure what baptism is all about, check out the podcast.

ArtsyFest

This Saturday (April 18) from 10am-4pm, the art store above us is hosting an event on Loockerman Street named Artsyfest to help kids try different forms of art. Loockerman Street will be blocked off from State Street to Governors Avenue so kids and parents can safely walk thru the festival. There will be arts and crafts sponsored by businesses in the downtown area…and you might notice a few familiar faces making balloon animals in the afternoon! 😉

For more info about the event, check out the Downtown Dover website.

Interested in Taking the Plunge? (aka baptism)

Dover Days Signups

Dover Days will be celebrated May 1-3, 2015. The event is the largest in Kent County and drew more than 50,000 people last year. A blend of traditions and modern attractions, celebrates First State history.

Part of what makes us who we are as a church is the desire to be connected and part of the community outside of the space we meet weekly. As a church we encourage people to be actively involved in the community and take part in the many festivals in and around Dover.

In addition to hanging out and participating in Dover Days events individually, Deep Water also has an information booth on Saturday, May 2 where we give out information about who we are while doing fun games, etc. with kids. To make it a success, we need volunteers on Saturday to do a variety of tasks. And we’d love to have people volunteer to do face painting, tie balloon animals, run small ‘carnival games’ for kids, etc.
To sign up to help, contact us or comment below. We’ll also have signup list available Sunday–along with a brief Clown College to teach some simple balloon animals.
To keep up to date with all the Dover Days info, like them on Facebook here.

He Is Still Risen!! – A.D.: The Bible Continues

What we celebrated on Easter Sunday is relevant every day of our lives!

As A.D. The Bible Continues plays on Sunday Nights at 9pm on NBC, you will see that Christ’s Crucifixion and Resurrection was only the beginning of the story. So what happened next? Join us at Deep Water Church this Sunday as we continue sermon series covering what happened after the Resurrection.

Millions of people will be watching the TV show and will want to learn more about what the birth of the early church means for their lives and faith today. Focusing on the Resurrection of Jesus Christ and continuing on into Acts as the church dramatically begins and flourishes as the series goes on through June 21. (Keep in mind that due to the realistic portrayal of historical events, it may not be appropriate for younger children. #ViewerDiscretionAdvised)

Our sermon series will cover the first chapters of the Book of Acts. Our plan is to cover the texts that will be the basis of the story told that evening. That way, you can go into the evening with some background knowledge of the story and what it means. You will be better prepared to understand the meaning of the story and discuss it with friends or others who might have questions. And if they are interested in the series, invite them to our worship gathering on Sunday to find out more–and meet some really cool people!
