Code Purple Update
As the seasons change and winter approaches, we are preparing to help the homeless during the harsh winter months. Code Purple is an initiative to help the homeless with temporary housing and a meal for the night during the winter when the temperatures are so low that their lives are in danger.
At Deep Water, we’re working on a list of people who would be willing to help
Volunteer at a site
Provide a meal
Donate food, toiletry items, etc that the homeless could use
Know of a site or people that may be able to volunteer to stay with the homeless
Help us get word out to the homeless people of Kent County that help is available & where to go to get it!
If you are interested in being involved or want more information, contact us, comment below or talk to me on Sunday.
Kids God Time Sheets & Monthly Parent Cue (October 5 & 12)

Check out June’s theme here.
Parent Cue Discussion Spiritual Discussion Starter Sheet
For this month: October 2014 Parent Cue.
God Time Quiet Time Exercise for Kids
For the lesson from last Sunday God Time October 5.
Looking forward to this week’s? Check out the one for God Time October 12.
What’s the deal with these anyway? Our goal as a church is provide you with resources to help your children grow spiritually. We’re doing our best to make things simple and easy. Please feel free to give us feedback on this!
- The Parent Cue is meant to be a resource for you to discuss and reinforce the lesson with your kids. The monthly sheet contains discussion questions for each week. They are designed to help you understand what your kids are learning and talk with your kids about spiritual principles in a relaxed way. They make great dinner conversation!
- The God Time is intended to help kids learn to spend some quiet time with God on their own so they learn to grow spiritually and begin to take responsibility for doing spiritual things on their own. (Of course, they can be fun to do as a family and you’re welcome to help them and model it for them as they learn!)

Men, Be Second!
We live in a world where men often strive to be #1–in sports, the workplace, in our hobbies and in everything we do. But there are times where being second is the best choice you can make. Meet us this Saturday at Espresso-N-Ice (same shopping center as Route 8 Food Lion and Goodwill), grab a cup of coffee, watch a short video and talk about faith and how it affects the way we live our lives.
What is I am Second?
From their website: I am Second is a movement meant to inspire people of all kinds to live for God and for others. Actors. Athletes. Musicians. Business leaders. Drug addicts. Your next-door neighbor. People like you. The authentic stories on iamsecond.com provide insight into dealing with typical struggles of everyday living. These are stories that give hope to the lonely and the hurting, help from destructive lifestyles, and inspiration to the unfulfilled. You’ll discover people who’ve tried to go it alone and have failed. Find the hope, peace, and fulfillment they found. Be Second.
Details:
Starting: this Saturday, October 11
Meeting regularly: 2nd Saturday of the month
Time: 8-9:30am
Place: tba

Live Second: Men Becoming Followers of Jesus
Our goal as a church is to see people grow in their faith and walk with Jesus. One of the main ways we do that is thru groups. Some of the men at Deep Water are looking to connect monthly for community and spiritual growth. We’ll be using a unique set of short films (produced about athletes, celebrities, etc.) to talk about faith and how it affects the way we live life.

So, you might be thinking, can’t I just watch these films by myself? Well, you can, but it’s much more fun while meeting and hanging out with some other guys. Oh, and there will be coffee!
