Code Purple

codepurpleCode Purple is an initiative to help the homeless with temporary housing for the night during the winter months when the temperatures are so low that their life is in danger. Deep Water is involved in many efforts to help those who live on the streets. We would like to supply volunteers and food for the places that serve as shelters (including cooking things to be frozen and heated for the homeless on nights the shelters are open). If you are interested in being involved, contact us, comment below or talk to me on Sunday.

Kids God Time Sheets & Monthly Parent Cue (September 21 & 28)

Church and familyEach month we supply a Parent Cue for parents and a weekly God Time sheet for kids. We post the monthly Parent Cue discussion sheet and the week’s God Time exercise for the lesson that was taught this Sunday. Copies of these are also available on the welcome table as you enter the main worship space. Or, for your convenience, you can download them below. Interested in the teaching plan? Check out June’s theme here.

Parent Cue Discussion Spiritual Discussion Starter Sheet
For this month: September 2014 Parent Cue.

God Time Quiet Time Exercise for Kids
For the lesson from last Sunday God Time – September 21.
Looking forward to this week’s? Check out the one for God Time – September 28.

What’s the deal with these anyway? Our goal as a church is provide you with resources to help your children grow spiritually. We’re doing our best to make things simple and easy. Please feel free to give us feedback on this!

  • The Parent Cue is meant to be a resource for you to discuss and reinforce the lesson with your kids. The monthly sheet contains discussion questions for each week. They are designed to help you understand what your kids are learning and talk with your kids about spiritual principles in a relaxed way. They make great dinner conversation!
  • The God Time is intended to help kids learn to spend some quiet time with God on their own so they learn to grow spiritually and begin to take responsibility for doing spiritual things on their own. (Of course, they can be fun to do as a family and you’re welcome to help them and model it for them as they learn!)

Bridge Bonfire this Friday

Despite what the title may suggest to you, we’re not actually burning down a bridge. But there is a bonfire at Killen’s Pond sponsored by The Bridge, a local Christian Music Station. Their advertisement reads, in part:

Join us by 7 PM for great music, fellowship with listeners, and FREE smore’s!

Byler’s will be providing and grilling FREE hot dogs too!

FREE water and smores will also be provided!

Remember to bring your own smore sticks, a chair or blanket, insect repellent, and a friend.

State Park Admission is $3 per day for Delaware vehicles; and $6 per day for Out Of State vehicles.

So join some of us from Deep Water this Friday (September 19) at 7pm. For more information, click here.

Code Purple

codepurpleWe’re not talking about interior decorating or the latest fashion trend. Code Purple is an initiative to help the homeless with temporary housings for the night during the winter months when the temperatures are so low that their life is in danger. Deep Water is involved in many efforts to help those who live on the streets. I (Jeff) attended a meeting recently discussing the plans for this winter. While we are not setup to be a shelter, we would like to supply volunteers and food (including cooking things to be frozen and heated for them on nights the shelters are open) for the places that serve as shelters. If you are interested in being involved, contact us, comment below or talk to me on Sunday.
