Thanks: School Supplies & Matching Grant
Thanks! We want to be a church that makes a difference in the community around us. With your support, we were able to get school supplies to kids at the Murphey School and raise the money we needed for the oven to heat food for the hungry. (And we’ll also be able to do some things with the lighting in our worship space.)
While the supplies have been delivered, if you’re running late, just drop them off and we’ll arrange another delivery as supplies come in. And if you want to get involved in feeding people or helping with the lights, contact us or talk to Jeff on Sunday.
Taking the Plunge…aka Baptism
Several people have expressed interest in getting baptized. We’re scheduling one in the very near future.
If you’re interested in being baptized, see me, contact me, sign up on Sunday with the connection card or comment below so we can be sure you get the most up to date information and let you know about any last minute changes.
By the way, last summer during the “mythsteries” series, one week’s sermon was about baptism, so if you’re not sure what baptism is all about, check out the podcast.
Kids God Time Sheets & Monthly Parent Cue (August 24 & 31)
Each month we supply a Parent Cue for parents and a weekly God Time sheet for kids. We post the monthly Parent Cue discussion sheet and the week’s God Time exercise for the lesson that was taught this Sunday. What’s the deal with these anyway? Our goal as a church is provide you with resources to help your children grow spiritually. We’re doing our best to make things simple and easy. Please feel free to give us feedback on this!
- The Parent Cue is meant to be a resource for you to discuss and reinforce the lesson with your kids. The monthly sheet contains discussion questions for each week. They are designed to help you understand what your kids are learning and talk with your kids about spiritual principles in a relaxed way. They make great dinner conversation!
- The God Time is intended to help kids learn to spend some quiet time with God on their own so they learn to grow spiritually and begin to take responsibility for doing spiritual things on their own. (Of course, they can be fun to do as a family and you’re welcome to help them and model it for them as they learn!)

Start or Join a Group
While it may seem a big task, leading a group is really as simple as finding a convenient time to meet and using some questions to steer the conversation in a direction that helps people grow spiritually. If you want to form a Community Group but want a little more training, you can “intern” at mine to see how to do it. If you want to form a Discipleship Group, join us to see how to do it–it’s probably easier than you think. I will make myself available to help you start for the first couple of meetings, help you get the right tools to make discussions easy and support you as you lead.
