Start or Join a Group
While it may seem a big task, leading a group is really as simple as finding a convenient time to meet and using some questions to steer the conversation in a direction that helps people grow spiritually. If you want to form a Community Group but want a little more training, you can “intern” at mine to see how to do it. If you want to form a Discipleship Group, join us to see how to do it–it’s probably easier than you think. I will make myself available to help you start for the first couple of meetings, help you get the right tools to make discussions easy and support you as you lead.
If you’re interested in leading a group, talk to me on a Sunday, contact me or comment below. I’ll help guide you through the process of getting started.
Look for more groups in September!
School Supplies for the Murphey School
This year, we’re gathering supplies to send to the Murphey School. Most of the kids who live at the Murphey School attend school in the Capital School District (Dover). We can’t supply an exact list since they attend a variety of the schools within the District. Many people focus on the supplies needed for younger kids and older kids (middle school and high school) don’t get enough supplies donated. Please consider picking supplies from the lists for the middle and high schools (Dover High School, Central Middle School William Henry Middle School). Most stores have lists available to help with your shopping.
If you want to contribute, simply drop supplies off at our worship gathering on Sunday. Or contact us to let us know when you want to drop off supplies during the week.
For more information contact us or see Julie Memmolo on Sundays!
Kids God Time Sheets & Monthly Parent Cue (August 17 & 24)
Each month we supply a Parent Cue for parents and a weekly God Time sheet for kids. We post the monthly Parent Cue discussion sheet and the week’s God Time exercise for the lesson that was taught this Sunday. Copies of these are also available on the welcome table as you enter the main worship space. Or, for your convenience, you can download them below. Interested in the teaching plan? Check out June’s theme here.
Parent Cue Discussion Spiritual Discussion Starter Sheet
For this month: August 2014 Parent Cue.
God Time Quiet Time Exercise for Kids
For the lesson from this Sunday God Time August 17.
Looking forward to next week’s? Check out the one for God Time August 24.
What’s the deal with these anyway? Our goal as a church is provide you with resources to help your children grow spiritually. We’re doing our best to make things simple and easy. Please feel free to give us feedback on this!
- The Parent Cue is meant to be a resource for you to discuss and reinforce the lesson with your kids. The monthly sheet contains discussion questions for each week. They are designed to help you understand what your kids are learning and talk with your kids about spiritual principles in a relaxed way. They make great dinner conversation!
- The God Time is intended to help kids learn to spend some quiet time with God on their own so they learn to grow spiritually and begin to take responsibility for doing spiritual things on their own. (Of course, they can be fun to do as a family and you’re welcome to help them and model it for them as they learn!)

Matching Grant
We’re always striving to improve our Sunday morning worship experience and our outreach efforts in the community. Both are important and require finances.
Another church in Delaware has offered to partner with us as we seek to improve these two areas. They have generously offered to match what we raise to complete two projects for improved kitchen equipment to support our feeding efforts for the homeless and some lighting to improve our Sunday worship experience. We need to raise the money ($950) by August 24 and are about 2/3 of the way to our goal.
If you would like to help us move forward in these areas, please mark your donations as “matching” on Sunday or online as “matching (kitchen & lighting)”.
