Celebrate Easter–Invite a friend

Easter is more than a time for searching for hidden eggs and eating candy. It’s a time to find or re-kindle our spiritual side…a time to celebrate newness of life and the opportunity to put our faith in something bigger. Statistically, many people would attend church if invited by a friend. Pray and invite some people this week who might enjoy Deep Water. We promise not to be weird…well, except with the photo booth pics! 😉

Want to know how NOT to invite people? Check out below:

So, join us this Sunday, April 20 at 11am as we celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus and what it means for us now! As always, we have nursery care available. The kids will join us for the message this week so we won’t have kids church.
Like last week, we will have a fun “photo booth” available for a few minutes before and after the service so you can get a high quality digital picture for your family and friends (and maybe a few silly ones too!) – hope to see you there!

8 Things Healthy Couples Don’t Do

One of our goals as a church is to see people grow spiritually. Many of us are married, so this article may be or interest. Let us know what you think by commenting below or on Facebook. Is there anything you would add? Anything with which you disagree? And I can’t help but think how some of this may be good advice for any relationship.

Kayaking Trip for Guys

Looking for adventure? Some men from Deep Water are planning a trip on the water. On May 17, we’ll head out on some kayaks to explore the St. Jones and head down toward the bay. It will be a challenging day of adventure with other guys. The cost will be about $20 for a rented kayak–free if you happen to have a kayak.

If you’re interested in going, contact us, RSVP to the event thru our online community or comment below. Since we need to arrange the kayak rentals ahead of time, we’ll need a commitment soon.

Dover Days

Part of what makes us who we are as a church is the desire to be connected and part of the community outside of the space we meet weekly. As a church we encourage people to be actively involved in the community and take part in the many festivals in and around Dover.

Dover Days will be celebrated May 2-4, 2014. The event is the largest in Kent County and drew nearly 50,000 people in 2013. A blend of traditions and modern attractions, celebrates First State history.
Here are a few fun facts about Dover Days from their website:

  • The event was started in 1933 as a home and garden tour. To celebrate the 80th anniversary, a garden tour will be held on Sunday, May 5.
  • It is a jam-packed weekend of fun for the whole family – from the Kids Zone to the classic car show and 350 artisans, crafters and food vendors, you’ll find something for everyone!
  • You can see 300 children in colonial attire dancing around the maypole on Dover’s historic Green, named a National Monument in 2013.
  • Enjoy the Capital City’s largest parade and pet parade (yes, it’s a pet friendly event!).
  • Explore Revolutionary War, Civil War and World War II encampments.
  • Visit Woodburn, the home of the Governor.
  • More than 40 food purveyors will serve up everything from delicious barbecue to popcorn, peanuts and pizza.
In addition to being part of Dover Days as participants, Deep Water also has an information booth where we give out information about who we are while doing fun games, etc. with kids. To make it a success, we need volunteers on Saturday to do a variety of tasks. To sign up to help, contact us or comment below.

Doing Nails

To balance out the manliness of the kayak trip, we’re also coordinating doing the nails of female patients at Bayhealth hospital. If you’re interested in helping out, connect with the women arranging everything in the Deep Water Ladies Facebook Group.
