Grow Tip: YouVersion Discussion Questions
Putting our faith in Jesus begins a journey of faith. While God is the source the spiritual growth we experience, we have a responsibility to act in ways that help us grow. Without a plan to grow, most of us will never move forward in our faith.
Even when we want to grow, it can be difficult to know where to begin. To help you grow, here’s this week’s “GROW Tip“:
Tip: Follow the Live Event for Sunday’s Message on YouVersion
Each week the Scriptures are available on the screen, but also on your web enabled, Apple or Android device. To access our events, follow these simple steps:
Tap the dashboard icon in the top left hand corner of the screen, then tap Live. (Depending on your screen size, you may have to scroll down to see this option.)
- If you are prompted for the app to use your Location, tap Allow if you are looking for local live events
- If no prompt, or if no events display: Type in a group name (Deep Water), event name, zip code or city
- Locate the event you want and tap on it to participate
- Follow the outline for the Event
(Shortcut: Just click on the Bible icon at the top of this page. Each week, it links to the current event.)
The event is not “live” in the sense of everyone participating together at one time. People can join and work through the material when they want and at their own speed… and are not interacting “live” with others…. But you are all seeing and reading the same content… so all are literally “on the same page.”
Each week we produce discussion questions. These questions are written to help you get into the passage from the week before and apply the truths discussed that week. While we don’t use these during the worship gathering, they can be used to review things through the week–or invite a couple of friends to discuss them with you!
Teen Group
Deep Water Church launched our first Youth Small Group, Deep Teens this past Tuesday!! If you’re in 6th-12th grade and you excited to grow in your faith, join them on Tuesday evenings at 7:00pm at the home of the Slaters.
Each week we will talk about how to understand our faith and live it out, how to overcome the trials of life and how we can model Christ-likeness in everything we do. The materials coincide with an app called Bible Studies For Life. This app will allow you to see what we are talking about each week and spend time discovering it before you come to small group. Don’t have a smartphone? No problem! You can access the material in other ways!
To get involved or get the address, contact Angie Barker. For more information, contact us or comment below!
Hope to see you there!
Group Changes
Most groups change over time. Many have weeks they don’t meet because of everyone’s schedule. Some take breaks over holidays (like between Christmas and New Year’s Eve). It’s always awkward when you show up for a group and no one is there! As we get more groups going, remember to connect with the group leader or another attendee before you come. You’ll find the leaders are fun people who would love to get to know you–and then you’ll know someone when you show up!
Changes to Wednesday Women’s Group
A new group for women started this Wednesday at 7:00pm at the worship space of Deep Water. The group will meet EVERY week to study the Bad Girls of the Bible instead of every other week. This coming week, they will begin chapter 1.
For more information, message us, comment below, contact Julie Memmolo or see her on Sunday!
Parent Cue for Sunday, September 29
Each week we supply a weekly Parent Cue for parents and God Time sheet for kids.
- The Parent Cue is meant to be a resource for you to discuss and reinforce the lesson with your kids.
- The God Time is intended to help kids learn to spend some quiet time with God on their own. (Of course, you’re welcome to help them and model it for them as they learn!)
We’re posting the upcoming week’s material for the lesson that will be taught this Sunday. Additionally, we will provide a hardcopy of these on Sunday for those who may not prefer the digital versions.
