Teen Group starts September 24
Calling all 6th-12th graders! Guess what? Deep Water Church is ready to launch our first Youth Group Small Group, Deep Teens. We will be talking about how to understand our faith and live it out, how to overcome the trials of life and how we can all model Christ-likeness in everything we do.
The materials we are using coincides with an app called Bible Studies For Life. This app will allow you to see what we are talking about each week and spend time discovering it before you come to small group. Don’t have a smartphone? No problem! You can access the material in other ways!
So, are you excited to grow in your faith? Please join us on Tuesday evenings at 7:00pm at the home of the Slaters, beginning on Tuesday September 24. Hope to see you there!

Gather/Grow Tip: Start of join a group
Hey, didn’t we already say this? Wasn’t it the “Grow Tip” a few weeks ago?…well, yeah, we did, but it’s a very important tip and in many ways, the words GATHER, GROW and ENGAGE cannot be fully separated. We grow in our faith as we serve others. As we engage people with the gospel, we grow in our faith. And often growing in our faith is spurred on by gathering together.
To help you grow, here’s this week’s “GATHER/GROW Tip“:
Tip: Start or join a group
Being connected with other in community as everyone studies the Bible is one of the best ways to grow. While it’s no substitute for personal disciples like prayer and Bible reading, it is a great way to learn more–and it’s fun to meet new people while growing! Check out the groups here.
Since we’re still new as a church, we may not have a group that fits your schedule. If that’s the case, talk to Jeff about starting a group. You will find it a rewarding experience–and it is probably easier than you think! Oh, and we’ll provide the training to help you get going and move forward.

Engage Tip: Feed the Hungry at the Salvation Army
Last week, we wrapped up a short sermon series called Simple Actions. One of the weeks, we talked about the word ENGAGE. Putting our faith in Jesus begins a journey of faith. While we can’t earn a right relationship with God and eternal life by what we do, when we put our faith in Jesus, it’s natural to do something for others as we serve God.
Even when we want to do something, sometimes we don’t know where to start. To help you ENGAGE, here’s this week’s “ENGAGE Tip“: Feed the Hungry at the Salvation Army
If you’re looking for a fun way to serve others outside of your daily life, some people from Deep Water will be helping serve lunch at the Salvation Army in downtown Dover on Saturday, October 5 at 11am.
Those going will help provide/prepare a meal and serve some people in the community in need. In addition to help serving, for October 5, a donation of cornbread and dessert (or fruit) to serve approximately 40 to 50 is needed. To sign up to help or for more information, contact Cindi by text/phone (302-331-8517) contact us or comment below!
Deep Water does this every other month, so if you can’t make it this time, you can always help the next time!
Open Mic
While not officially a Deep Water event, some of us are involved in the local music scene. One way that we can make our community a better place and connect with local people is to support local music. Everyone is invited! So, come check out the Open Mic at Espresso-N-Ice this Friday (September 22) at 6:45pm. Need more info, check out the Facebook event here.
The lineup is nearly full for this month, so message Jeff on Facebook or sign up here if you want to play, etc. And if you have some talent you’d like to share in the future, you can sign up here.
Parent Cue for Sunday, September 22
Each week we supply a weekly Parent Cue and Kids God Time sheet.
- The Parent Cue is meant to be a resource for you to discuss and reinforce the lesson with your kids.
- The God Time is intended to help kids learn to spend some quiet time with God on their own. (Of course, you’re welcome to help them and model it for them as they learn!)
We’re posting the upcoming week’s material for the lesson that will be taught this Sunday. Additionally, we will provide a hardcopy of these on Sunday for those who may not prefer the digital versions.
