Convoy of Hope
On July 13 the Convoy of Hope is coming to Legislative Mall in Dover. This effort is being sponsored by several churches in the greater Dover area including Deep Water Church. Mary Ellen and Bob Skuse agreed to lead the grocery segment of this event which will sort, bag and distribute over 30,000 pounds of groceries to needy families.Did you know? We have a “food closet”.
Did you know Deep Water has a “food closet”? We normally give out leftover Wawa sandwiches from our feeding of the homeless. But we also get food donations throughout the week and distribute it among those contacting us needing help with food.
If you or a friend or neighbor ever need a little to get through the week/month, contact Jeff. if we have food, we’ll share!

If you signed up for the Firefly Project on Monday, June 24, remember it’s this coming Monday!
Also, remember to wear closed toe shoes and water to stay hydrated. (We’ll have some too; but be prepared!)
What is the Firefly Project?
We work to help the homeless in the greater Dover area and love partnering with other organizations that serve the homeless and others in need. Three years ago, we began to work with the people who put on Firefly to collect many of the items left behind after the festival that can be useful to the homeless and facilitate donations to places like the Food Bank. (Check out an article on it with some great pictures here.)
Convoy of Hope 2019 4
Help us help get ready for the Community at a Convoy of Hope event in Dover this summer!
We will need volunteers on that day for:
Prayer Tent: We need friendly greeters and people to pray with attendees.
Followup: We need friendly people to help follow-up with attendees that would like a visit.
Everyone: There will be a training session Friday, Jul 12 at 6:00 pm at the Pentecostal of Dover Church 4462 W Denneys Rd, Dover, DE 19904.
What is Convoy?
A Convoy of Hope Community Event is a united act of compassion that helps families in need. Local churches, businesses, community service and health organizations partner together to provide guests with groceries, medical and dental screenings, prayer, haircuts, lunch, veteran services, music, a kids’ carnival, children’s shoes, job and career services, community services, family portraits and more—at no charge to guests.
Dover is scheduled to host an event this summer (July 13) and there will be many opportunities to help before the event and on the day of the event.
Here’s a video giving you an idea of what will be going on:
