Community Group for Moms
A new group for Mom’s is beginning on Tuesday, May 14. Charlene Moore will be leading the group at 1:00pm at Deep Water’s worship space. Remember: There is plenty of free parking available behind the building in the spaces marked “Parking LSA”.
For questions about childcare, scheduling, etc., check out the event on Facebook here and contact Charlene. As with all Community Groups, it is always a good idea to touch base with the leader before coming by since the schedule may change slightly from time to time.
Check out the book here. Order it online or through Charlene.
Dover Days this Saturday
Looking forward to Dover Days this Saturday! The weather looks like it’s going to be a great day to be outside!
If you want to help out, we can always use some more people in the booth. Setup is at 6am and we have shifts all day until 4:30pm. We’ll also need help packing away everything at 4:30. We need people to talk to people about who we are, run some fun kids games and do the “special project” from this past Sunday. If you’re interested in volunteering for a bit, let us know if you can! If you’re not able to volunteer but are able to go–or just want to find out more about us–please stop by and say hi!
What’s Dover Days? If you missed the earlier announcements…
Dover Days is a fun local event celebrating Dover’s history. There are lots of things for kids and adults to enjoy–and, as a church, we love being a part of this community! We plan on setting up a booth on Saturday and telling people about who we are and why we do what we do. Anyone who calls Deep Water home is welcome to come and pass out literature & cool swag, talk to people–and play lots of cool games with kids.
Where will we be?
Our assigned spot is across from the Biggs Museum on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard North (formerly Duke of York), heading toward Legislative Hall. (See the red arrow on the map below.) Note: While many people call the large green space near Legislative Hall “The Green”, “The Green” is actually the smaller space to the left on the map. State Street runs through The Green if you’re heading downtown from places like Magnolia toward Loockerman St. So, if you tell someone to meet you on the Green, it’s always a good idea to check on where they think the Green is! I tell you this from personal experience! 😉
See everyone there!
Parent Cue for 4th week of April 2013
As a church, we want to supply resources to help you as a parent move your kids forward in their journey of faith. To help you, we supply a weekly “Parent Cue” and “Kids Devotional”. The Parent Cue will help you discuss the week’s lesson and Bible story with your child. You can schedule a time to sit down with them–or just have a discussion over dinner. For this week’s Parent Cue, click here to download it.
For older kids, we also have Kids Devotional material that goes along with what we’re learning in Kids Church. Encourage kids to choose four different days during the week to do these devotions. Most 4th and 5th graders are capable of having a “quiet time” on their own, once they’ve been taught how to do it, but they still need an adult to prompt them and/or follow up on it. Even though kids in early elementary (kindergarten through 3rd grade) are beginning to read things on their own, most are not mature enough to have a God time by themselves. This is something extra you may choose to do with your younger kids. Click to download it here.
Want more detailed instructions on how to use this. check out this post.
Open Mic
While not officially a Deep Water event, some of us are involved in the local music scene. One way that we can make our community a better place and connect with local people is to support local music. Everyone is invited! So, come check out the Open Mic at Espresso-N-Ice on Friday, February 22 at 7pm. Need more info, check out the Facebook event here.
The lineup is full for this month, but if you have some talent you’d like to share in the future, you can sign up here.
Dover Days next weekend!
Looking forward to Dover Days again this year on May 4! We need people to talk to people about who we are, run some fun kids games and do a “special project”. If you’re interested in volunteering for a bit, make sure you sign up Sunday or let us know.
If you ordered a T-shirt, be sure to pick it up this Sunday! If you can’t make it on Sunday, connect with us during the week and we’ll get it to you!
If you’re not able to volunteer but are able to go–or just want to find out more about us–please stop by and say hi!
